Daniel Pernas was born in Vigo (Galicia) in 1979. At the age of 10 his mother, who was a schoolteacher at his school, found out Daniel was artistic. Nevertheless he went to study medicine in Santiago, because his parents saw a better future in becoming a doctor than an artist. From 2005 he lived to Alicante and in 2009 he moved to Madrid. In November 2021 he moved to Elche to work as a cardiologist in the community hospital.
His style is photorealism and he uses photos to paint everything exactly. Usually he paints male models, sometimes nude or partly nude, or landscapes. He works directly on canvas with oil paint.
Daniel is gay and currently not in a relationship. He had his coming out to family and friends at the age of 23. His parents responded positively.
Anatomy and the person behind the model is important in his work. His art doesn’t reflect only beauty, his work wants to express the subconscious, the deepest of human thoughts and desires, the man and his relationship with society.
In all his spare time, besides his job as cardiologist, he always paints or draws. He also participates in competitions, which end in a group exhibition where people come to recognize his work. Daniel has had exhibitions in Valencia, Madrid in Berlin. He is very proud of his participation in the group exhibition “Self-Destruction Poetry” in Berlin in March 2018, together with artists like Bruce LaBruce, Victor Luque and Fernando Carpaneda.
